So What If I Don't Clean My Dryer Vent?
As a homeowner there is always an endless to-do list in order to keep up with your property. Dryer vent cleaning and inspection should be added to that list at least on a yearly basis.
So what if I don’t regularly clean my dryer vent? What exactly can happen?
If lint and debris are not removed from your dryer vent and system on a regular basis it will become clogged and can cause the following issues:
Your clothes can take longer to dry. This may cause you to run the dryer multiple times in order for you to fully dry your clothes. Which means you will be spending extra time and money.
The dryer may not dry your clothes at all. This will cause your clothes to remain damp causing mold to build up within the fabric ultimately ruining the clothing.
The vent can become clogged which can cause the dryer to overheat. A dryer that is continuously overheating is a fire hazard and can cause a fire.
Mold and dust can collect and be expelled inside the home. This can cause serious health issues including respiratory problems.
If a gas powered dryer vent becomes clogged it can leak carbon monoxide inside the home. Carbon monoxide build up can lead to poisoning and death to the residents.
There are many reasons why dryer vent cleaning is necessary. It is not only important to keep your dryer functioning at its best, but also to prevent serious health hazards within your home.
